What our volunteers and partners say about their Himalayan Volunteer Tourism experiences

Concept of Himalayan Volunteer Tourism is a game changer for Tirthan valley and Himachal Pradesh. Under HVT many professionals from different part of the country get the opportunity to come to the valley and engage in teaching and training children and women for their betterment and personal growth. My suggestion for HVT is to start short-term training program for the unemployed youth and me and my team would be willing to involve and take responsibility as and when HVT initiates it. My best wishes to HVT and I look forward to working with them soon again.

The Himalayas attract score of people and nowadays people are seeking volunteer opportunities in the region. HVT is such a community of experts that will guide people for exactly what they are looking for. Volunteerism in the right places is not easy to find and the opinion of experts play a very important role in having the right experience according to your requirements. HVT is the right platform to look for expert opinion. Why is guidance of expert essential? Most important is to understand the nuances of volunteerism. If volunteers can understand the people they work with as citizens with rights rather than objects of charity, they can begin to think about long-term partnership, justice and structural change. For the shorter term, volunteers should see their presence as a cultural exchange rather than as humanitarian relief. Happy Volunteering!

Himalayan Volunteer Tourism - as the name suggests is a beautiful concept where any one of us can volunteer to give our inputs and enjoy touring the highest mountain ranges of the world. Tucked in small corners amongst vales and valleys are settlements of unique characters. The people specially children have good potential and would benefit immensely from the varied skills of the tourists. Through HVT, I came in contact with their Sunshine Learning Center and I volunteered to teach the kids on virtual platform. The center encourages the kids to learn, sing, do craft activities and more. It was a greatly satisfying thought that we in our small way can contribute to the development of the area. Thanks to those at the helm for doing such a wonderful job.

I am fortunate to have been part of the HVT family and really happy for the outstanding work they do. HVT is uplifting the lives of under- privileged children by providing education, needed support and opportunities for them. Since children are the future, HVT is investing in a better future for India and I was honoured to be a part of the organisation in a small way and shall try to remain so. HVT is a name that belongs to love, shelter and humanity. Keep up the GOOD work.

To make a difference, one need not wait until all of the planets come together. One can just do it. HVT is that planet which not only helps to explore your potential but also provides you with lots of opportunities to make a difference in the lives of others (less privileged) around. With your radiance, you will help others (kids) to shine brighter, through the activities conducted at the Sunshine Learning Center. HVT is a fantastic project which brings alive the deepest passion in you and in others everyday life.

My experience of staying and being a part of the local life at Tirthan valley has been absolutely mesmerizing. I attended a cleanup drive at Sairopa with a group called 'The Tirthan Collectives and we discussed issues about waste management. I also interacted with the children at Sunshine Learning Center and played games with the younger kids there. The beautiful people at the homestay also made me wear Pattu a traditional Himachali attire and took such good care of me. I actually felt like a member of their family. The valley is enchanting and I'll never be able to express in words how peaceful it made me feel.
