Mohmmad Abbas, popularly known as Pinto in his Sharchay village. Born in Barot village in a middle class family, father is a driver and mother a housewife. His schooling was in his native Village school, MPS Baroo and luckily moved to Jammu for higher education and then graduated from Delhi. After completing a masters in journalism, he was passionate about being a Radio Jockey, wanting to highlight public issues. Facing reality, struggling for a while ,jobless, he finally applied for a teachers job. He got selected in the Education Deptt as a Teacher in 2020.
Motivation to come back to his village
Abbas was always conscious of issues in Ladakh, environmental problems, inequality and gender bias prevalent in his land, and now getting this opportunity to impact the future generations and help to change the mindset, made him excited to become a teacher. I got posted at the remotest area of Kargil ladakh still deviod of internet and road connectivity.
Challenges faced
After working a while there in the school I got noticed that my students lack some basic amenities like playground library , play materials and many more , after then Almighty graced me the opportunity that I donated a piece of land to my school and after that installed a modern reading room/ library bearing all expenses on my own . My students were very much supportive for the cause as without their physical support in carrying materials all that was not possible for me alone. I searched some voluntary donors who donated uniforms and all others articles which were the part of a happy curriculum to school . Today I’m very much happy working with them and I didn’t care all about the materialistic things and donate every penny in favour of them.
